Balkan played a stellar shortstop and had a batting average of .297, .396 OBP and 7 SB's. Maxwell led the team with 10 HR's, .583 SLG and 33 RBI's. Neptune led a fine staff with a 5-1 record, 2.36 ERA and a WHIP of 1.01. Neptune was signed after the season by Lake Erie Crushers Independent team.
The Waves finished a disappointing 17th place at the NBC World Series in Wichita, KS. They beat the Crestwood Panthers in the opening game 3-2 before falling to the Haysville Heat 8-6 and the Kansas Cannons 6-5. It was a good year for the Waves finishing 28-21, but after a hot start to the season injuries and defections before the World Series hurt the Waves chances of finishing the top 5 for the second year in a row. The good for the tournament was three Waves pitchers signed pro contract while at the tournament or just after. Tyler Mack of New Mexico State sign with the Kansas City Royals and Jeff Cummins signed with the Wichita Wingnuts during the tournament and Jeff Neptune signed with the Lake Erie Crushers right after the tournament. Congratulations to you both and good luck with your professional careers.
